RIZAL PROVINCIAL CAPITOL, Antipolo, Rizal – More than 3,000 senior citizens from all the 14 municipalities and city of the province were vaccinated with anti-pneumonia vaccine in medical missions conducted recently by the Rizal provincial government, with the assistance of United Laboratories (UniLab) and the United Bayanihan Foundation (UBF).
In a report to Rizal Gov. Jun Ynares, provincial social welfare and development office (PSWDO) said that some 3,025 elders were given free anti-flu vaccine, while about 1,059 underwent medical consultations and given free medicines in missions conducted in different municipalities/city province-wide.
The elders are usually prone to respiratory infections because they are more susceptible to illnesses.
The activity by the UBF was in support of the enhanced social and health services program of Rizal Gov. Jun Ynares who, incidentally, is a doctor by profession and earned himself the title of health reform champion in the southern Tagalog region, given by the Department of Health (DOH).
“We are grateful to the men and women of UniLab and UBF for their support to the medical needs of our elders. We are very fortunate for having active partners with great sense of social responsibility like you,” Gov. Ynares said.
In a related development, the UBF is set to conduct a Summit for Senior Citizens of Rizal this coming July 20 at the Meralco Management and Leadership Development Center (MMLDC) in partnership with the provincial government of Rizal, Office of Senior Citizens Affair (OSCA), Rizal Federation of Senior Citizens Associations (RIFOSCA) and other non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
